What Happens At Prenatal Visits
Prenatal visits are as long as you need them and as frequent as you need them were happy to see you as early in your pregnancy as you would like. We measure and palpate physical changes and help you to prepare confidently for the life changes which a new baby brings.
Many of our clients opt for minimal lab work but some also choose to do additional testing. Some prefer to have no sonograms unless there is a clear medical indication for it, while others find sonograms very reassuring. We can help you to decide whats right for you. Your freedom extends beyond the birth. It begins with your choices throughout your prenatal care and continues through a detailed birth plan that you design.
We discuss with you ways to enhance your health. This will include in depth discussions about your diet. We may also talk about any supplements that you may be taking as well as possible ideas for alternatives based on your needs. We are comfortable with alternative therapies and many of our clients find herbal or homeopathic medicines useful. Many clients find chiropractic care helpful during pregnancy and we can refer you to providers. Occasionally prescription medicine is called for and we can prescribe that for you as needed.
What Other Tests Can Be Run
Naturopathic Doctors also have access to ordering salivary, stool, urine, and blood-drop tests. These are take-home tests that are then sent in to a lab to be processed. There are many tests available, but some of the more common ones I run are:

Class fees are collected online at the time you register for a class. Credit or debit card payment is accepted, as well as Health Savings Account cards. How Much Does The Birth Center Cost For Prenatal Care And Delivery
We have a global fee that covers all of your prenatal care, labor and birth, postpartum care, home visits, classes, and newborn care. Birth center costs are typically 1/3 to1/2 the cost of a birth in a hospital. We accept most major insurances including Delaware Medicaid. We also accept self-pay clients.

Prenatalcare and giving birth is expensive according to The Cost of Having a Baby in the United States, the average costfor a vaginal delivery was $32,093 and a cesarean section was $51,125 in 2013.
Additionally,the cost of giving birth varies greatly. For instance, Researchers at theUniversity of California, San Francisco, in 2014, the cost of giving birthvaried widely from $3,296 to $37,227 for an uncomplicated vaginal birth and$8,312 to almost $71,000 for a cesarean section.
Insurance typically covers a good portion of these expenses, but families may still need to be prepared to cover thousands in remaining costs. How much you pay out-of-pocket for coverage will vary depending on if youve met your deductible, if you have copays or co-insurances, if youve gone out-of-network, and other factors.
Theseare prices for births that go well. These averages do not include those who hadcomplicated births or C-sections or if you or your baby requires an ICU or NICUstay. An individual is categorically needy if he or she has an income level at or below a certain value . The qualifications for Medicaid and the required documents needed to apply vary from state to state, so consult your states Medicaid guidelines .
Nearly half of all pregnant women in the United States rely on Medicaid . This happens because a pregnant woman is considered medically needy. Women who may not have qualified for Medicaid in the past may qualify during pregnancy because of expanded eligibility. Pregnant women are also usually evaluated for Medicaid eligibility much more quickly, from 2-4 weeks after submitting their application . Normally, the process can take 45-90 days or longer if a candidate doesnt send out the necessary proofs. Pregnant women also can apply for presumptive eligibility, which means Medicaid will cover their prenatal care retroactively in other words, they can still receive prenatal care while their application is being processed. Every effort is made for pregnant women who should qualify for Medicaid to receive their care immediately . So be sure to mention your pregnancy to the Medicaid office if you think you may qualify.

Can You Get Or Switch Health Insurance Coverage While Pregnant
You can enroll in health insurance coverage during the annual open enrollment period, which runs from November 1st through December 15th in most states. Some states have extended open enrollment to learn more about the open enrollment period in your state, check out our OEP by state breakdown.
You cannot enroll or change health insurance plans outside of the open enrollment period unless you experience a qualifying life event. A qualifying life event will trigger a special enrollment period, which typically lasts around 60-days. During these 60 days, you may enroll or switch health insurance coverage.

What Is The Normal Process To Have My Childbirth Education Class Covered By Insurance
Once you know how much your insurance will cover for you for your class, you need to know how to do it.
Most of the time you will pay out of pocket for the class. Then you will have to submit a form and your receipt to your insurance company.
If you purchase our online childbirth class, you will receive an email immediately that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
This email will also have the relevant codes on it that your insurance company will use to properly submit your claim.
New Birthing Center Opens Accepting Medicaid And Some Insurance Plans
HENRICO, Va. Expectant parents now have a new option for where to give birth. A new center has opened in Henrico and it takes insurance.
Just a few doors down from the Lakeside Fire Station, in what looks like a cozy house, sits River City Midwifery. The birth center recently opened its doors and is run by two area midwives.
They say this center, is the only birthing center in Central Virginia to accept in-network health insurance.
Not everyone can stroke a check for an out of hospital birth, said midwife, Adrianna Ross. Insurance is a big factor. So, we have worked really hard and now were in-network with Anthem. Now we accept Medicaid. We want out-of-hospital birth to be an option for whoever wants it and for financial barriers to be the reason why you can not have it.
Adrianna Ross said the facility is meant to feel more home-like with your own full kitchen, bathroom and tub room with deep soaking tub.
Its a really intimate experience, said Ross. Like I said, we really get to know each other. Theres no surprises. Care is based off of informed choice.
Those choices start with prenatal care and testing.
What is this test and what information is it going to give us? said Ross, who as she was explaining the process. What are your options for testing? If you test this way, what are your options then? Really, its a team player environment. Im not telling anyone what to do. Im just here to provide information and support and keep mom and baby healthy.
