Recent Changes To Our Network Participation

***This does NOT include Texas Medicaid or CHIP***

After much deliberation, we have decided to end our in-network participation with all insurance companies. We WILL still accept AND file on your dental insurance, however, we will be considered an out-of-network provider.

What does this mean for your child?

  • You CAN continue to bring your child to our office for their dental care!
  • We WILL still accept PPO plans with out-of-network benefits, and we have found that for most plans, the percentage of coverage for in-network versus out-of-network is usually the same!

We have always maintained a high standard of care for our patients, however, in the current environment of managed healthcare, many insurance companies are adding more and more stipulations, restrictions and limitations to their subscribers. They are also reducing our fees by 40-60%. It has reached the point where it is impossible for us to offer the same high-quality dentistry that our patients deserve, and we are unwilling to compromise our patients dental care or cut corners because of insurance company rules. So, rather than lower the standards that we have maintained for years, we have chosen to eliminate our preferred status with all insurance companies.

We appreciate your loyalty and hope that this has only a positive impact on your childs dental care.

***This does NOT affect Texas Medicaid and CHIP*** We will remain providers for MCNA and DentaQuest.

Doctor.com can help you find a Dentist who accepts Medicaid insurance in Texas. A dentist is a person qualified by a doctorate in dental surgery or dental medicine , licensed by the state to practice dentistry, and practicing within the scope of that license. There is no difference between the two degrees: dentists who have a DMD or DDS have the same education. Universities have the prerogative to determine what degree is awarded. Both degrees use the same curriculum requirements set by the American Dental Association’s Commission on Dental Accreditation. Generally, three or more years of undergraduate education plus four years of dental school is required to graduate and become a general dentist. State licensing boards accept either degree as equivalent, and both degrees allow licensed individuals to practice the same scope of general dentistry. Additional post-graduate training is required to become a dental specialist.

Orthodontist In Longview Tx That Accept Medicaid

A lot of people have questions about Medicaid and whether or not it covers orthodontic treatment. Well, we are here to help clear that up and answer your questions and the most common question: Does Medicaid cover braces?

While Medicaid does cover most dental treatment for children, it does not cover all treatment. Orthodontic treatment is considered to be different than dental treatment in regard to coverage by both Medicaid and by private insurance companies. In years past, here in the state of Texas, Medicaid was much more accepting of orthodontic cases. Unfortunately, some of the larger dental chains and orthodontic chains were taking unethical advantage of this and since then, Medicaid in the state of Texas has, for the most part, not covered orthodontic treatment. Even in the most severe malocclusions where patients are missing a number of teeth or have a cleft lip and/or cleft palate, treatment is still not being approved.

Generally, children should visit the dentist by their first birthday or when their first tooth comes in. To make sure your child develops healthy dental habits, seeing the dentist early and regularly will really help. Your dentist can teach your child proper dental care, helping them prevent tooth decay and live a lifetime of happy, healthy smiles.

Tips to help with your childs first dentist appointment:

    Prepare your child

You can get your child used to a dentist check-up at home before ever scheduling their first appointment. You can do this early for babies by wiping their gums with a soft cloth after meals or gently brushing their tooth with a soft toothbrush. Doing this before their first appointment will get them used to having someone exam inside their mouth. If your child is older, give them a general idea of what to expect and explain why going to the dentist is important.

What Does Childrens Dental Insurance Cover

The exact type of coverage that your child may receive will depend on their unique dental plan. However, most childrens insurance plans cover the complete cost of biannual dental cleanings and exams, and many also cover fluoride treatments, dental sealants, and necessary restorative services like dental fillings. For specific information regarding your childs benefits, we recommend contacting their provider directly.
