Hibi Participation Offered At Little Or No Cost To You
What if I want to enroll in a family plan? Will HIBI cover the entire cost for free?
The HIBI program will send payments for the portion of the premium that covers only the Health First Colorado members on file. If a non-Health First Colorado policyholder must be on the health insurance policy that covers the Health First Colorado member, then the State may pay for the portion of the premium that covers both the Health First Colorado member and the non-Health First Colorado policyholder, if it is cost-effective to do so.
Why should I apply if I need coverage for my entire family and HIBI will only pay for my Health First Colorado dependents coverage?
A policyholder has the option to enroll in a family plan. However, the HIBI Program will, at most, pay for the coverage of the policyholder and the Health First Colorado member on file.
For example: A policyholder has a wife and a child. The child is eligible for both Health First Colorado and the HIBI Program. The policyholder enrolls in a family plan. HIBI will only pay the policyholder for the cost of a policyholder plus child plan. The policyholder is required to pay the portion of the premium that covers his wife.
In this instance, the policyholder is not required to pay the entire cost of a family plan. He will pay only a portion of the cost.
