How Does Medicaid Provide Financial Assistance To Medicare Beneficiaries In Arizona

Unitedhealthcare Dual Complete Plans
Plans are insured through UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company or one of its affiliated companies, a Medicare Advantage organization with a Medicare contract and a contract with the State Medicaid Program. Enrollment in the plan depends on the plans contract renewal with Medicare. This plan is available to anyone who has both Medical Assistance from the State and Medicare. Benefits, premiums and/or co-payments/co-insurance may change on January 1 of each year.

Completing Your Ahcccs Application
There are a few different ways that you can complete your AHCCCS application: its easy! If you think you may need help completing your application, you can apply by visiting a DES office near you or calling Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, 1-855-432-7587.

Ahcccs Long Term Care Services
Arizona Long Term Care coverage includes:
- Services from program contractors that work with doctors, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals, pharmacies, specialists and other health care professionals to provide care.

How Do I Enroll In Medicaid In Arizona

Who Is Eligible For Medicaid In Arizona
Arizona has taken a somewhat unique approach to income limitations for covered Medicaid populations. While many states cover children at much higher income level than adults, Arizona has established income limits that are relatively consistent across covered groups.
The Medicaid program in Arizona is called the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System . AHCCCS is available to:
- Children birth to 1 year with family income up to 147% of the federal poverty level
- Children 1 to 5 years with family income up to 141% of FPL
- Children 6 to 18 with family income up to 133% of FPL
- As of July 2016, children not eligible for Medicaid but with family income up to 200% of FPL are eligible for KidsCare
- Pregnant women with family income up to 156% of FPL
- Parents with family income up to 138% of FPL
- Childless, non-elderly adults with family income up to 138% of FPL
- Elderly and disabled individuals who have special requirements and meet certain income limits
Arizona froze enrollment in KidsCareits version of the Childrens Health Insurance Program in 2010, and discontinued KidsCare at the end of January 2014 due to lack of funding. For more than two years, Arizona was the only state that didnt have CHIP. But in July 2016, CMS approved Arizonas proposal to re-open CHIP. Enrollment began July 26, and coverage took effect as early as September 1, 2016. The state expected 30,000 to 40,000 children to be newly eligible for CHIP.

Who Qualifies For Ahcccs Medicaid
To be eligible for Arizona AHCCCS Medicaid, you must:
- Be an Arizona Resident and a United States citizen or qualified immigrant.
- Have, or be eligible for, a Social Security number.
- Have a limited income.
- Be a senior, age 65+, or approved for Supplemental Security Income , based on disability, by the Social Security Administration.
The gross monthly income limit as of January 2021 was $1,415 for a single applicant and $1,911 for a family of two.

Medicaid Certified Home Care Agency In Arizona
The Arizona Medicaid reimbursement for any caregiver agency depends on the agencys certification as HHA. States have issued their checklist along with the regulations with more emphasis on certifications and licenses than other states are currently following.

Are There Any Costs Or Fees That I Need To Pay For Medical Assistance
There are no fees for applying for medical assistance.
Some medical assistance programs may require the participant to make a co-payment when receiving medical services. Some co-payments are mandatory the medical provider may not provide service if the mandatory co-payment is not paid. However, if you do not have mandatory co-payments the provider may ask for the co-payment, but cannot deny service when you are unable to pay. You will receive a letter indicating whether you have mandatory co-payments. The letter also includes the services which require co-payment and amount of the co-payment. The co-payment may be waived by the medical provider.
The KidsCare program requires payment of monthly premiums. If you need to pay a premium, AHCCCS will send a letter to you before your first premium is due.
Arizona Long Term Care System
Arizonas long term care Medicaid program is also known as the Arizona Long Term Care System or with the acronym ALTCS. ALTCS is designed for people who are medically needy but cannot afford the care they need to remain healthy and safe. Applicants must meet certain medical requirements as well as income and asset requirements.
Arizona is an income cap state, meaning that in order to be eligible for Medicaid long term care, there is a hard income limit. Non income cap states allow applicants to spend down money for their care, whereas income cap states require the amount to be no higher than their limit at time of application.Like many other states, Arizona sets their income limit at 300% of the Federal Benefit Rate. The exact dollar amount changes annually. If an applicants income is higher than the states limit, an income only trust must be created for any excess income above the maximum.

Q: What Factors Can Slow Down The Processing Period For My Application
To qualify for the program, you must submit your application, which can take up to 90 days to get approved. Your application processing period might take longer than average if your income is too high for eligibility in the month you apply and the month after but might be low enough during the third month. If more proof is needed to determine your eligibility, or you request extra time to gather the necessary documents, your processing period might also be longer than 90 days.
