An Old Fashioned Person Opinion

I think it sounds better old fashioned than old! ) and for whatever reason, afraid of technology, after many intents for different kind of things. Where I used to fill a paper job-application and submitted in person! I was already getting blocked when heard I need to submit a document… but this app made it so easy!! I thank you. Its not easy to apply for benefits when I should be contributing and helping others. What is behind to be doing this, is hard to handle, and every other little thing, it looks as a huge one! Maybe Im the only person who feels like this, maybe not. But I thank the government, this institution and each person involved, like the kind and patience lady that just helped me on the phone, for making this process less difficult. And whoever created this program/app. Which I think its quite kid-friendly, and is what I need to be able to go through. Sincerely, thank you. Cristal Martinez Frank.

Everything you Need to Know About Texas Medicaid

If you are enrolled in the TANF program or are receiving Medicaid, there are a few important things to remember:

  • Cooperation with the OAG is mandatory. Failure to cooperate with the child support process can lead to a reduction or elimination of your benefits.
  • In some situations, HHSC can grant a parent a good cause exemption from cooperation with the OAG. This is most often granted due to family violence. If you have safety concerns about the child support process, call 2-1-1 and ask to speak to someone about a good cause exemption and for additional information visit the Get Child Support Safely website.

To view your benefits and how they may be affected by child support obligation communicate directly with HHSC through the “Your Texas Benefits” website.

Health Insurance Premium Payment

The Health Insurance Premium Payment program is a Medicaid program that helps families pay for private health insurance. This program is for families who have:

  • A parent or a spouse with private health insurance
  • A child or a spouse with Medicaid

Medicaid will pay the family’s private health insurance if the total cost of that insurance is less than the total cost of care with Medicaid. The total cost of the private insurance includes the premium, coinsurance and deductibles.

If approved, Medicaid may pay the private health insurance costs for the entire family and not just for the family members who get Medicaid. The family will get services through the private health insurance plan.

Medicaid Is Structured As A Federal

HHS Spotlight: Access and Eligibility Services

Subject to federal standards, states administer Medicaid programs and have flexibility to determine covered populations, covered services, health care delivery models, and methods for paying physicians and hospitals. States can also obtain Section 1115 waivers to test and implement approaches that differ from what is required by federal statute but that the Secretary of HHS determines advance program objectives. Because of this flexibility, there is significant variation across state Medicaid programs.

The Medicaid entitlement is based on two guarantees: first, all Americans who meet Medicaid eligibility requirements are guaranteed coverage, and second, states are guaranteed federal matching dollars without a cap for qualified services provided to eligible enrollees. The match rate for most Medicaid enrollees is determined by a formula in the law that provides a match of at least 50% and provides a higher federal match rate for poorer states .

What Is Medicaid In Texas

Medicaid is a jointly funded state and federal health care program, established in Texas in 1967 and administered by the Health and Human Services Commission .

In order to participate in Medicaid, federal law requires states to cover certain population groups and gives them the flexibility to cover other population groups . States set individual eligibility criteria within federal minimum standards. States can apply to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for a waiver of federal law to expand health coverage beyond these groups. Medicaid is an entitlement program, which means the federal government does not, and a state cannot, limit the number of eligible people who can enroll, and Medicaid must pay for any services covered under the program. In December 2011, about one in seven Texans relied on Texas Medicaid for health insurance or long term services and supports.

Medicaid pays for acute health care , and long – term services and supports ) for people age 65 and older and those with disabilities. In state fiscal year 2011, total expenditures for Medicaid were estimated to represent 26 percent of all expenditures.
