How Much Do I Have To Pay For Dental Services

Liberty Dental, Nevada officials provide virtual dental screenings for children on Medicaid

The Florida Medicaid Dental Health Program covers many of the costs of routine dental care. You qualify based on your familys income. Families with children or adults who receive Medicaid services have no co-payments. You may have a $3 copayment per day for a nonemergency dental visit in a federally qualified health center.

If your dentist orders a prescription drug for you, we can help you get that drug through Medicaid or your Medicaid health plan. You can avoid extra costs by checking that your drugs are on the Agency for Health Care Administrations Preferred Drug List.

Florida Medicaid Dental Plan Continuity Of Care

The Agency for Health Care Administration contracts with Medicaid Dental Plans to provide dental services to dental plan enrollees in the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care program. The Agency recently entered into a contract with LIBERTY Dental Plan as one of three statewide Medicaid Dental Plans.

LIBERTY Dental Plan is required to ensure continuity of care during the transition period for Medicaid recipients enrolled in the SMMC program.

COC requirements ensure that when enrollees transition from one health or dental plan to another, one service provider to another, or one service delivery system to another , their services continue seamlessly throughout their transition. The Agency has instituted the following COC provisions under its contract with LIBERTY:

More information about COC provisions can be referenced on the COC program highlight document, which is posted on the Agencys website at www.ahca.myflorida.com/smmc . Once on the page, click Program Changes, then the Outreach and Presentations link.

Dental Care: Why It’s Important

Liberty Dental Plan

It is important for babies, children, and adults to see a dentist at least twice a year. The earlier children see a dentist, the healthier their gums and teeth will stay for their whole life. Children should begin seeing a dentist by age 1, even if they do not have teeth yet.

Problems with teeth and gums can be avoided by seeing a dentist early in life and on a regular basis. Brushing, flossing and avoiding sugary foods and drinks can help with healthy teeth and gums.

If a tooth problem does occur, it can have serious effects on your overall health. Tooth problems can also cause problems like not being able to bite and chew food, problems in school, or missing school because of pain. Also, unhealthy teeth can cause problems with speaking.
