Welcome To Our Office

GROW Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, PLLC is the pediatric medical practice of Dr. Owens, Dr. Rusk, Dr. Wise, and their staff. Together, we provide medical care to children from birth to late adolescence. Coincidentally, the first initial of each of their last names forms the word GROW!

Our newly renovated 2,300 square foot suite was designed to provide optimal comfort for our families. GROW Pediatrics features seven exam rooms and an on-site CLIA-waived laboratory, which allows us to perform a handful of tests in-office, and gives parents the ability to accompany their children during blood draws. Our practice is nearly paperless and uses Office Practicum, a pediatric specific software application for electronic medical records.

Pediatrician In Austin That Accepts Medicaid

T.S.

Hi LadiesMy daughter is on Medicaid…and I took her to her yearly wellness exam with a new doctor the other day, since moving to Austin.I left the office in tears.I was very rushed and talked down to for questioning him on vaccinations and about an issue my daughter has with her eye.He told me that her tonsils were very large but “don’t worry, it should be gone by the time she is 6″He told me her speech was slurred, but “don’t worry it should be gone by the time she is 6″I was so in awe of the way I felt we were being treated, that I wasn’t able to get the info that I wanted. There is more…it was just a bad experience.

Does anyone have a pediatrician that you would recommend that accepts Medicaid/Amerigroup and is accepting new 4 year old patients. That doesn’t mind to sit for 10 minutes to explain what is going on with the child?

Thanks

What Is A Pediatrician

Pediatricians provide primary medical care to infants, children and adolescents. Children may see the same pediatrician from birth until 18 years of age , fostering a close rapport between the doctor and child. This allows for more comprehensive and complete care as the child grows and matures into a young adult.

General pediatricians are trained to provide the unique medical care that children require. Although children can be treated by general or family practitioners, pediatricians are in a much better position to provide comprehensive care. When providing care, pediatricians have many goals in mind. These include controlling infectious disease, reducing the mortality rates of infants and children, and promoting and developing healthy lifestyles in children.

Pediatricians are well equipped to diagnose and treat a variety of illnesses, diseases and injuries faced by children. These may include general infections and illnesses and minor injuries, as well as some diseases. Pediatricians are trained to identify mental or emotional stressors in children that may lead to psychiatric or mental health complications, including developmental and anxiety disorders, behavioral problems and functional complications, among other indicators.

Highly Trained Advanced Practice Providers

Insurance

In addition to our physicians, Pediatric Associates of Austin also employs highly qualified Advanced Practice Providers , including Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Certified Physician Assistants . Nurse practitioners have been working alongside our PAA physicians for over 10 years, serving at our After Hours Kids Clinic, our SportsSafe Concussion Clinic, and in our daytime office. Each of our nurse practitioners brings extensive varied experiences from various work environments including ENT, neurology, urgent care, hematology, infectious disease, and primary care. All pediatric nurse practitioners have a masters degree in nursing and certification by a national pediatric nursing board. Our nurse practitioners are all CPNP-PCs. This means each is certified specifically in the area of pediatric primary care allowing them to care for infants from birth through 21 years of age. PNPs not only diagnose and treat common illnesses, but also focus on health education and illness prevention. In Texas, PNPs are supervised by a physician ours are so fortunate to receive training and be mentored by the wonderful physicians at Pediatric Associates of Austin.

How Can I Afford Prenatal Care

Prenatal care is too important to neglect. However, some mothers fear that the healthcare costs associated with pregnancy will be too high.

Luckily, there are ways to bring healthcare costs down. Many adoption agencies and charities provide financial assistance to pregnant women in need. But there are also larger programs that can help. Medicaid is a government healthcare program that provides coverage to millions of Americans, including pregnant women with limited resources.

According to recent data, Medicaid currently finances about 42% of all births in the United States. In other words, Medicaid plays an important role in the pregnancy journey of women across the country. This means that many OB-GYNs accept pregnancy Medicaid.
