TOPEKA, Kan. – Five Kansas mental and behavioral health initiatives have gotten an infusion of cash from a donation from Aetna Better Health.

Aetna Better Health of Kansas – a CVS Health company – says it has donated $125,000 to five community health partners in the Sunflower State to meet health and social care needs, like those related to mental health, developmental disabilities and housing.

Community resources are essential for helping individuals and families achieve better health, said Lisa Baird, Chief Operating Officer, Aetna Better Health of Kansas. The investments were making in Kansas will help people be more self-sufficient, have greater access to care and improve their wellbeing, and also enable providers to deliver quality care. By working together, we can make a difference in the lives of those in underserved communities in Kansas.

Aetna said the donation supported the University of Kansas Medical Centers Project Echo. It said the project is meant to train rural health clinicians through best practice telemonitoring sessions with a professional network of interdisciplinary specialists.

The company noted the donation will help fund continuing education for Medicaid-focused rural and community health care providers to increase the ability to treat and manage challenges in their own communities and improve outcomes for Kansans.

How To Choose Your Kancare Health Plan

The Kansas Medicaid program established three MCOs, or Managed Care Organizations, in 2013 as a way to better coordinate care for Medicaid recipients. Having a MCO prevents billing errors and helps ensure the highest quality of care.

You will be automatically assigned to an MCO but will be given the opportunity to pick one of the other options if you do not like yours. Once you are enrolled, you will receive an open enrollment packet each year about 30 days before your one-year KS Medicaid enrollment anniversary. To join our network, you must first be enrolled in Kentucky Medicaid. To enroll in Kentucky Medicaid, please go to the Medicaid Provider Portal Application .

Providers who are not participating need to request a contract by completing the provider nomination form. Once completed please return to .

Once the nomination form is received and reviewed, someone from the contracting team will send you a contract and credentialing packet. Please complete and return the both via the instructions.

Step 4

While the contract is being reviewed, the credentialing information is forwarded to our Credentialing Verification Organization Aperture Health. Aperture Health is responsible for direct credentialing for our network of providers.

Aetna Wins Contract For Kansas Medicaid Program

HARTFORD, Conn. The State of Kansas notified Aetna that it has awarded a Medicaid managed care contract to Aetna Better Health of Kansas.

Starting on January 1, 2019, Aetna Better Health of Kansas will offer Medicaid benefits to enrollees statewide in the KanCare Medicaid managed care program. KanCare serves parents, pregnant women and children, individuals with intellectual/developmental or physical disabilities and individuals over the age of 65 with a comprehensive benefit package that includes long-term services and supports and behavioral health care.
