How To Choose Your Primary Care Provider

OB/GYN Performed Procedures without Patient Knowledge?

If you dont choose a PCP, your health plan will choose one for you.

You can ask for a PCP who speaks your language, specializes in your disability, or understands your culture as long as they’re in your health plan’s network. You can also specify if you have a preferred gender for your PCP.

If the provider you want is not in your health plans network, ask the provider which health plans they accept. If the other health plan is available where you live, you can change to that health plan.

Your PCP should be someone you feel comfortable with. If you arent happy with them for any reason, you can choose another provider.

To choose a different PCP, follow the directions sent to you by your health plan, , or visit your health plans website.

Note: If you are covered by Apple Health without a managed care plan , you must find a provider who accepts Washington Apple Health using your ProviderOne services card. Find a contracted provider.

For Healthy Indiana Plan Hoosier Healthwise Or Hoosier Care Connect Members:

Please remember that if you are enrolled in the Healthy Indiana Plan , Hoosier Healthwise, or Hoosier Care Connect, you will need to choose a Primary Medical Provider within your health plan.

If you are looking for a specialist and are in a managed health plan, you may need a referral from your PMP before Medicaid will pay for certain services. Please check with your PMP or your health plan before seeking additional services.

If you have questions, you should contact your health plan directly. You can find the phone numbers for each health plan on the Contact Us page.

Use the links on the right hand side of the screen to locate providers based upon your health plan.

A Closer Look At Obgyns

An OB/GYN, otherwise known as an obstetrician-gynecologist, is a medical doctor who specializes in all aspects of womenâs healthcare. These medical professionals focus on treating issues with womenâs reproductive health, problems and care during pregnancy, and also after childbirth.

Different OB/GYNs conduct their practice in different ways, and some may choose to have an integrated health practice that focuses on womenâs health, but that provides general as well as specialized care rather than only care focused on reproductive health. Other practitioners focus exclusively on offering treatment of reproductive organ issues and pregnancy/childbirth-related concerns. Obstetricians focus on pregnancy and childbirth, while gynecologists are more concerned with general womenâs reproductive health the combination of the two is an OB/GYN.

OB/GYNs not only treat any problems that may arise in the female reproductive system, but many also offer preventative care and testing. Some of the most common disorders and issues that are treated by OB/GYNs include:

â Vaginal/urinary tract infections

â Contraception counseling

â Prenatal care for mothers-to-be

â Menopause transition

â Pap smears

â STD and HPV testing, prevention, and treatment
