Is Childrens Wisconsin Covered By Your Health Insurance Plan
Each year, many families have the option to choose insurance plans through their employers. During your benefits open enrollment, you will want to check if Children’s Wisconsin will be covered by the plans available to you.
Even if you don’t change plans from year to year, be aware the doctors you can see or the places you can go for care may change.
Below is a list of health insurance companies that include Children’s Wisconsin in their plans in the current benefits year. To determine if a plan will include Children’s Wisconsin in the new benefits year, review your open enrollment information or talk to your insurance company. The doctors and advanced practice nurses in our specialty clinics are part of the Medical College of Wisconsin. The Medical College is a separate organization. These providers may not be included in the same insurance plans as Children’s Wisconsin or at the same levels. You should confirm this coverage with your insurance company.
Your insurance plan may cover dental or behavioral health services provided by Children’s Wisconsin. Transplant services generally are provided through transplant networks. Contact your insurance company to review your coverage for these services.

State And Federal Financial Assistance
Financial assistance programs such as Medical Assistance , the Children’s Health Insurance Program , Pennsylvania Health Choices, New Jersey Family Care and children’s health coverage programs in New Jersey have different provider networks, benefits and eligibility criteria.
For example, parents with very low incomes usually qualify for Medical Assistance for their children. Families with slightly higher incomes usually qualify for CHIP. And families who already have insurance coverage and are in need of additional financial help may be eligible under the state “loophole guidelines” if the child has a qualified medical condition or is chronically ill.
B Drug Pricing Program
For 25 years, the 340B Drug Pricing Program has provided financial help to safety-net hospitals to manage rising prescription drug costs. The program allows 340B hospitals to stretch limited federal resources to reduce the price of outpatient pharmaceuticals for patients and expand health services to patients and the communities they serve.

Balance Billing Disclosure Act
New Disclosure Requirements Effective August 1, 2017
Effective August 1, 2017, Louisiana Law states that all patients, when registering for services in a hospital or clinic, must be given and sign a new disclosure form specifically the ACT 306/HB435 Regulatory Advisory. As a patient, you are being asked to review and sign this new disclosure form. This new form advises that you may receive a medical procedure or professional care from a physician or healthcare professional that will not be part of your hospital bill, and there is potential that these services may not be covered by your health insurance provider. As a result, you may be responsible for payment for all or part of these services. You are encouraged to contact your health plan to determine whether these independent physicians or healthcare professionals are covered by your health insurance.

As childrens hospitals are challenged to provide quality and accessible care, and expanded programs to meet the growing needs of this vulnerable population, Medicaid payments are essential but they are not nearly sufficient enough to cover the cost of care.

The Childrens Health Insurance Program
The Childrens Health Insurance Program is a bipartisan effort to provide health coverage to children who fall above Medicaid eligibility levels, but struggle to afford private insurance. CHIP is a joint federal-state program designed with childrens needs in mind, including pediatric-specific benefits and appropriate provider networks. Out-of-pocket costs are capped at 5% of a familys income in CHIP, which helps ensure low-income families have access to affordable care.
