New Feature Allows Recipients To Search For Enrolled Providers

Finding a doctor or dentist who accepts Medicaid and practices in their area used to be a chore for Medicaid recipients, as well as their primary care physicians. Now, that information can be found via a quick computer search.

The Medicaid programs Web site, www.medicaid.dhh.louisiana.gov, now features a Provider Locator Map that allows users to search for Medicaid providers by parish or region. Users can pick what sort of service they need and be given a list of all providers for that service in their area who are enrolled in Medicaid.

We often hear complaints from our Medicaid recipients or their primary care physicians that they have trouble finding a provider for a specialized service who accepts Medicaid, said LDH Secretary Dr. Fred Cerise. With this new search tool, it will be easier and faster for recipients to locate a provider in their area, and it will be easier for their primary care doctors to refer them to another provider.

To access this feature, users should go to the site and click on the magnifying glass that says “Find a doctor or dentist in Medicaid.” They will then be directed to the map, which will allow them to select a service from a drop-down menu and click on either their region or their parish to search. The map gives users the name, address and phone number of all providers that fit their search criteria. If no active provider is listed in a users parish for service, they are advised to check the surrounding parishes or the entire region.

The Importance Of Annual Well Woman Check Ups

Eye Doctor In Americus Ga: Orthopedic Doctor Bossier City

Most experts agree that by evaluating you on a yearly basis, your gynecologist can better determine if there are any issues you need to be concerned about. Depending on your age, there are certain steps that will go into every visit, including:

  • Evaluation and counseling

Recent guidelines call for pap smears every three years. Women with an average risk of breast cancer should have annual mammograms between the ages of 45 and 54. After that, they can have screenings every two years. Breast exams, either from a medical provider or self-exams, are no longer recommended by the American Cancer Society, unless indicated. Patients younger than 21 years old do not usually require a pelvic exam.

Caresouth Offers Sliding Fee Scale Discount Program For Those With Or Without Insurance

BATON ROUGE With more than 200,000 Louisiana residents unemployed due to COVID-19, CareSouth Medical and Dental offers a sliding fee scale discount program for those who are insured, uninsured and underinsured, providing access to healthcare for all.

The federal program allows CareSouth to provide medical, dental and behavioral health services to individuals and families, regardless of their ability to pay. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, CareSouth receives federal funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration to help serve underserved communities.

We take care of patients with or without insurance and those with Medicaid and Medicare, said CEO Matthew Valliere. No one is turned away.

Last year, the community healthcare center provided nearly $2.8 million dollars in sliding fee scale services to patients at its locations in Baton Rouge, Donaldsonville, Plaquemine, and Zachary.

Eligibility is based on income and family size, according to Federal Poverty Guidelines. For example if youre a single person making $12,000 or less or a family of four making $26,000 or less, you pay $25 for a medical visit and $40 for a dental visit. If you cant afford to pay, the staff will set up a payment plan that works for you or look for third-party resources that may be available. The program is also available to those who have insurance with high deductibles. Prescriptions are also available at a discounted price.
