To find a doctor that accepts Medicare payments, you may want to visit the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid ServicesPhysician Compare. You can search by entering a health care professionals last name or group practice name, a medical specialty, a medical condition, a body part, or an organ system. This tool will provide you with a list of professionals or group practices in the specialty and geographic area you specify, along with detailed profiles, maps and driving directions.

Please note that Physician Compare only lists professionals that accept Medicare. Although some may also accept Medicaid, it does not have information about which professionals do accept Medicaid.

Medicaid programs vary by state and each state Medicaid agency maintains their own list of professionals that accept Medicaid. For further assistance, please contact your health plan or state Medicaid agency. For more information about Medicaid, visit the Medicaid & CHIP page on Healthcare.gov.

If you have trouble accessing the Physician Compare website, please call 1-800-MEDICARE and a representative will be able to run the search for you. They can also send you a print version of the search results.

There are other directories on MedlinePlus that will help you find health professionals, services, and facilities, some of which may serve Medicare or Medicaid payments.

Urgent Care Vs Emergency Room

Urgent care is not the same as emergency care. Urgent care centers are for illnesses and injuries that are not life-threatening, yet still require treatment. Some examples include common illness like the flu, minor fever or headache, painful sore throat, earache or sinus pain, back pain, minor injuries like a sprained ankle, etc. Most urgent care centers provide same-day services and usually have shorter waiting times than emergency rooms. Emergency rooms are for life-threatening emergencies and accidents where immediate treatment is required. Emergency rooms are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and provide care for critical or life-threatening conditions. Visit your nearest ER or call 911 if you experience: changes in mental status, such as confusion, chest pain or pressure, coughing or vomiting blood, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath etc.

Am I Able To Visit An Urgent Care Facility If I Have Medicaid

Doctors Heights Urgent Care Walk

Urgent Care facilities can treat a variety of illnesses and conditions without the long wait times and hefty costs that come with visiting the Emergency Room . But where you are able to go for care when you most need it can be difficult to navigate, especially if you are on Medicaid. However, most Urgent Care facilities see patients who have insurance, Medicaid, or need help paying for their care. Rather than going to the Emergency Room or a private doctors office, Medicaid patients needing care may be eligible to visit an Urgent Care facility for affordable and time-efficient medical assistance.

How To Determine Your Medicaid Provider Network

Missouri’s Medicaid expansion aims to benefit low-income workers, but sign-ups still lag

If youre eligible to enroll in Medi-Cal, you are automatically placed into the Fee-Fo-Service plan until you select your managed care provider. Your access to Medi-Care health plans depends on what California county you live in. Once you select a Medi-Cal managed care plan, you will select your primary care physician , which is the main doctor you will see for your routine checkups and visits when youre sick.

You can view the Medi-Cal Managed Care Health Plan Directory to determine which health plans are available in your county. You must select a plan no more than 30 days after youve been informed you qualify for Medi-Cal services. Otherwise, the state of California will select your health plan for you.

If your county only has one plan listed, then that is the only option available for all Medi-Cal enrollees. If there is more than one option available, you should compare plans to choose the best one that will meet your health and medical needs.

How to Find Providers, Doctors, Medical Offices and Hospitals

Once you have selected your health plan, you can determine which providers are covered. You can use DHCSfind a provider form to help by following only three simple steps when you search by location:

  • Select your program: Medi-Cal Managed Care or Cal MediConnect
  • Choose a provider type: Doctor, hospital, medical clinic or dentist/dental clinic
  • Search by location: Address, zip code or county

Does Urgent Care Accept Medicaid Plans

Medicaid provides health coverage to millions of Americans. Adults with low incomes, children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities are typically eligible for Medicaid. Each state administers its own Medicaid program.

The Federal and state governments jointly fund Medicaid. Providers are under no obligation to accept Medicaid, and not all of them do. Therefore most Medicaid enrollees fear that they will not have access to care when they need it.

If youre wondering Does urgent care accept Medicaid?, the answer is yes.

We accept many Medicaid Managed Care Plans at our Nao Medical locations. Medicaid may also cover urgent care at a minimal to no out-of-pocket cost.

The emergency room providers on staff at Nao Medical Urgent Care are experienced and skilled in treating all types of non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses. The doctors at our urgent care centers can treat various illnesses and injuries, from broken bones to the flu.

Getting an appointment with a doctor shouldnt take an unreasonable amount of time. When you visit Nao Medical, you dont need an appointment. And, the wait times are short. If you are suffering from a non-life-threatening illness or injury, urgent care is the most convenient and fastest way to get medical attention.

Visit us and find out why Nao Medical is the best choice for medical care in the New York City area!

    When To Visit Urgent Care

Urgent care clinics are not a substitute for your regular doctor. When you can’t reach your Doctor after-hours or your Doctor is not available, you have options to get your needed care. Many people dont realize there is a middle ground between a doctors visit and a trip to the ER.

Urgent care centers regularly handle a range of medical problems, including:

When Should I Go To Urgent Care

You should go to urgent care when you need medical attention quickly but the situation isnt life threatening. Some of the conditions that can be treated at an urgent care center include:

    • insect or animal bites
    • bleeding that cant be controlled
    • suicidal thoughts

Any condition that threatens your life or could cause you to lose a limb needs to be treated at the ER.

For example, if you fell and hit your head, you should pay attention to your symptoms to decide where to go. If youre slightly dizzy and have a dull headache, you should go to an urgent care center to get checked for a possible mild concussion. But if youre disoriented, confused, slurring your words, or having trouble with your vision, you should go to the ER.

Medicaid Covers 1 In 5 Americans And Serves Diverse Populations

Medicaid provides health and long-term care for millions of Americas poorest and most vulnerable people, acting as a high risk pool for the private insurance market. In FY 2017, Medicaid covered over 75 million low-income Americans. As of February 2019, 37 states have adopted the Medicaid expansion. Data as of FY 2017 show that 12.6 million were newly eligible in the expansion group. Children account for more than four in ten of all Medicaid enrollees, and the elderly and people with disabilities account for about one in four enrollees.

Medicaid plays an especially critical role for certain populations covering: nearly half of all births in the typical state 83% of poor children 48% of children with special health care needs and 45% of nonelderly adults with disabilities and more than six in ten nursing home residents. States can opt to provide Medicaid for children with significant disabilities in higher-income families to fill gaps in private health insurance and limit out-of-pocket financial burden. Medicaid also assists nearly 1 in 5 Medicare beneficiaries with their Medicare premiums and cost-sharing and provides many of them with benefits not covered by Medicare, especially long-term care .

For services covered by both Medicare and Medicaid, Medicare pays first and Medicaid serves as the secondary payer. That means Medicare will pick up the bill first and pay its share before handing it off to Medicaid. Copayments and coinsurances that are left remaining after Medicare applies its coverage will be picked up by Medicaid.

Dual-eligible beneficiaries can expect to pay little to nothing out of their own pocket after Medicaid has picked up its share of the cost.

There are also some additional ways in which Medicaid beneficiaries can save money on care with Medicares help.

    • Dual-eligible beneficiaries are often automatically enrolled in a Medicare Savings Program , which covers the Medicare Part B premium and may offer additional services.
    • Dual-eligible beneficiaries also generally receive Extra Help, which provides assistance with Medicare Part D drug costs.
    • There are certain types of Medicare Advantage plans known as Dual-eligible Special Needs Plans that are custom built to accommodate the specific needs of those on both Medicare and Medicaid.

    Medicaid Facilitates Access To Care

A large body of research shows that Medicaid beneficiaries have far better access to care than the uninsured and are less likely to postpone or go without needed care due to cost. Moreover, rates of access to care and satisfaction with care among Medicaid enrollees are comparable to rates for people with private insurance . Medicaid coverage of low-income pregnant women and children has contributed to dramatic in the U.S. A growing body of research indicates that Medicaid eligibility during childhood is associated with reduced teen mortality, improved long-run educational attainment, reduced disability, and lower rates of hospitalization and emergency department visits in later life.
