Medicaid is financed jointly by the federal government and states. The federal government matches state Medicaid spending. The federal match rate varies by state based on a federal formula and ranges from a minimum of 50% to nearly 75% in the poorest state. Under the ACA, the federal match rate for adults newly eligible was 100% for 2014-2016, phasing down gradually to 90% in 2020 and thereafter . Medicaid And The Asset Test
When it comes to non-MAGI Medicaid eligibility, both your income and your assets come into play. Most of the government programs that qualify you for Medicaid use an asset test. SSI sets the standard.
If your income and assets are above a certain level, you will not qualify for the program. In 2021, the income limit is set at $2,382 per month and the asset limits at $2,000 for an individual.
MAGI Medicaid does not cover everything. Your assets come into play when it comes to Long-Term Services and Supports , the part of Medicaid that pays for long-term care in a nursing home.

If you are a Medicaid beneficiary, the state can actually try to recoup payments for certain expenses, including a long-term care facility, after you pass away. This is known as estate recovery.
Medicaid won’t try to recover payments if you leave behind a spouse or a child who is under 21 years old or who is blind or disabled.
However, assets in a properly constructed irrevocable Medicaid trust are protected from Medicaid estate recovery.
Can I Get A Drivers License Or A Job If I Have A Warrant In Another State
The DMV, or Department of Motor Vehicles, consists of fifty agencies adhering to the individual laws of the fifty states. As such, some states allow their DMV to check for arrest warrants while many others will not.
If you have a warrant in another state, then you will need to contact the DMV for both your home state and the state in which your warrant has been issued, in order to determine if you will be able to obtain a drivers license in either state. However, most state DMVs do have ways of catching people with driving related warrants.
An example of this is New Yorks DMV system. They are able to catch criminals through their photo IDs, because as soon as a person is photographed for a drivers license or ID card, the photo is run through face recognition software and compares it to images already in the states database.
In some other states, the DMV is made aware of traffic related warrants because of court reporting requirements. Once they have been notified, they will not allow the violator to obtain or renew a drivers license, nor will they allow the violator to register a vehicle. This is also referred to as a DMV or drivers license hold.
Thus, it may be possible to still secure employment with an active warrant, but it is important to remember that you may be arrested anywhere at any time, including while you are working. Your best course of action is to address the warrant immediately and follow through with any required steps to get the warrant cleared.

I’ve Been Ordered To Pay An Amount I Can’t Afford
After you plead Guilty or No Contest, or if you are convicted at trial after pleading Not Guilty, the judge will impose a sentence that almost always includes a requirement that you pay fines and court costs. The judge is required by law to ask about your ability to pay. But if the judge doesnt ask and you do not have enough money, explain to the judge that you are not able to pay the fine and court costs.
The judge may use the word indigent, which is just a term courts use to refer to people who do not have enough money to pay fines and costs. But theres no special word you have to use to describe your situation.
Most courts will want you to prove that you do not have enough money to pay. This will involve showing the court that you dont have any income or make little money, that you dont have a lot of money in the bank or other assets, and/or that your necessary expenses already take up all of your income.
Most courts also have affidavits of inability to pay fines and fees that you will be asked to complete before the judge considers alternative sentences. Basically these are forms where you provide information about your income, assets and expenses, so the judge will know you actually cannot pay.
If you feel like the form alone does not give the judge a good picture of your financial situation, write and attach a short explanation, explaining your unique circumstances and why you cannot pay.
