How do I apply?
To get an application, call the Medicaid office at 858-6685 or 858-6582 and ask them to mail one to you. Or pick one up on the first floor of the Rath Building, 95 Franklin Street, Buffalo. Return the filled-out application as soon as possible to the Rath Building. You may apply for Medicaid at any time, and you must get a written notice telling you whether or not you qualify.
What happens next?
Shortly thereafter, you should get a letter setting a date and time for an interview at the Medicaid office. The letter will say where your interview will be held. The letter may also ask you to bring certain documents. If you cannot keep the appointment, call the Medicaid office to make another one . If you do not show up or call, your application will be denied.
On the day of your appointment, check in at the reception desk. The interview usually lasts from 30 minutes to an hour. The Medicaid worker will check your income and resources .

When reentering, justice-involved Georgians become responsible for their own health carebut because they face challenges to gaining meaningful employment, let alone employment that provides health benefits, health care coverage is too often out of reach. Nationwide, approximately 60 percent of formerly incarcerated people face unemployment.
The answer is clear: lawmakers interested in supporting Georgians as they successfully reenter society should expand Medicaid in Georgia. Though Crossover Day is over, legislators could include Medicaid expansion in bills that have passed out of their original chamber.

Studies have shown the critical importance of palliative care, which looks at the patient as a whole and addresses quality of life, symptom management, and supports for both the patient and their caregivers, wrote the Senators. It not only yields better health and quality of life outcomes, but can also decrease stress for the entire family. This type of compassionate, comprehensive care integrates clinical and community-based services, improves care coordination, uses an interdisciplinary team to focus on patient-centered care, and reduces discomfort and disability.
Allowing palliative care to be provided wherever the patient is locatedbe it at home, at a caregivers home, in the hospital, in a nursing or assisted living facility, or through telemedicineis critical for both the appropriateness and quality of care for the patient and also to ensure effective and efficient use of health care facilities and avoidance of unnecessary visits to inpatient settings, the Senators continued.
