Waithot Tubs Are Covered By Insurance

    WHAAAAAAAT?!?!

I know. Its crazy good news.

Heres the thing: To get a hot tub covered by insurance, you have to have an actual medical need for it. Like injury. Spine problems. Etc. If you do, asking your doctor if s/he thinks hot tub therapy would help certainly doesnt hurt.

If they do think it would be beneficial to your situation, make sure they write a script. From there, call your insurance company. If youve got the Rx, and your policy doesnt specifically state that a hot tub isnt covered, it should count as a qualifying piece of durable medical equipment . Durable medical equipment is covered on many plans.

If its not, and you still really want and can afford that hot tub, take the prescription with you when you buy it. That will eliminate the sales tax.

Plus, if insurance doesnt cover the hot tub, it could be tax-deductible as a medical expense. So is the electric youll use to run it.

Be very careful here, though. If youre throwing hot tub parties or your family is using it, you could run into some serious trouble if you get audited.

Buying a hot tub sans insurance company? Just because its tax deductible doesnt mean you shouldnt score a great deal. Make sure to check out sites like Groupon before making your purchase.

Are There Any Instances Of Insurance Covering Formula

Yes. If your child needs a prescription formula, such as Alimentium or Nurtamigen, it may be covered.

Usually these coverages are in the form of reimbursement, and usually your health insurance company will give you the run aroundeven if prescription formula is clearly covered in your policy.

Stay strong. This stuff is expensive. Its worth saving your receipts not giving up. You pay for that benefit, and you deserve to have them fulfill their end of the bargain.

If you live in one of the following states, there is legislation dictating that your insurance cover these prescription formulas, regardless of if they want to or not:

Water Safety: Superior Healthplan Classes Available In July

    Date:07/20/16

One of the best ways to cool down and have fun this summer is to get in the water! Water can be dangerous if you arent safe. Follow these simple tips for a safer summer:

    • Never swim alone. Swim with a buddy in case you get tired or a cramp. In an emergency, you can help each other get the aid you need.
    • Be prepared in an emergency. You could save a life by learning CPR and other water rescue skills.
    • Swim in areas with lifeguards. Lifeguards are there to rescue you if something goes wrong.
    • Pay attention to signs. They are there to warn you of unsafe activities such as No Diving. If ignored, you or someone else could get hurt.
    • Wear sunscreen. The sun reflects off of water and can make the suns rays more powerful. Dont forget to reapply and cover up when you can.
    • Drink lots of water. You sweat more when youre moving around in the heat. That can lead to dehydration. Take a water break if you feel dizzy, lightheaded or nauseous.

Superior offers water safety classes at no cost for STAR and CHIP members ages 4 through 10. You must be a resident of Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, El Paso or Hidalgo County/McAllen. This program is a partnership between Superior and Colins Hope. Colins Hope is a non-profit organization in Texas that is focused on water safety to prevent children from drowning.

    Does Medicaid Cover Gym Membership

Medicaid coverage is different from state to state, so whether gym membership is provided will depend on where you live.

According to federal guidelines, a gym membership isnt a benefit that must be provided by Medicaid, and in most states, its not included. However, some states received federal grant money in the 2010s to test using incentives to improve health outcomes. In these states, Medicaid often used gym memberships as part of weight loss initiatives. Other states may partner with YMCA/YWCA or other community organizations to run health programs.

Your states Medicaid office will be able to tell you more.

A Comprehensive List Of Eligible And Ineligible Expenses

Health Reimbursement Accounts , Health Savings Accounts , and Flexible Spending Accounts can be great cost-savings tools. You can use them to reimburse yourself for eligible health care, dental, and dependent care expenses. But it’s important to know which expenses can be reimbursed.

Its also important to keep a record of the expenses you pay with your HSA, HRA, or FSA in case Cigna asks you to prove that an expense was eligible for reimbursement from your account, or in case you are audited by the IRS. Examples of records you should keep include: receipts, Explanation of Benefits , medical diagnosis/physician diagnosis letters, and prescriptions.

Important update: Due to the passage of the CARES Act, starting January 1, 2020 the following items are eligible:

    • Menstrual care/feminine hygiene products are now reimbursable.
    • Over-the-counter drugs no longer require a prescription to be reimbursed.

Please note that the list is subject to change based on regulations, revenue rulings, and case law. The list is intended only as a general guideline for covered expenses. All items on the list may be subject to further restriction. An employer may limit which expenses are allowable under their FSA or HRA plan offering.*

    Eligible Dependent Care Fsa Expenses

A Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account uses your contributions to cover dependent day care expenses. Contributions are not subject to federal taxes, and not subject to state taxes in most states. For details about state and/or local taxes, contact your personal tax advisor.

Eligible dependents include children under 13 years of age, and a spouse or other dependent that is physically or mentally incapable of caring for themselves.

    How does it work?

    • During enrollment, estimate your annual out-of-pocket dependent day care expenses. This is your annual contribution to your Dependent Care FSA. The IRS allows a maximum of $5,000 for your annual contribution, but your employer may set a lower limit.
    • Divide your annual contribution by the number of paychecks you receive annually. This is how much money will be deducted from each paycheck and placed in your Dependent Care FSA. Remember, you’re saving money because no federal taxes are taken out of your contributions.
    • Pay your dependent day care expenses out of pocket, and then submit the expense to Cigna for reimbursement using the Reimbursement Request Form
    • You’ll be reimbursed for eligible expenses using the dollars contributed to your FSA.

Unused dollars cannot be carried over into the following year, so think carefully about how much to contribute.
