Medicaid Managed Care Procurement Award
On April 9, 2021, ODM announced the selection of six managed care plans to lead the departments evolution of managed care services for its more than 3 million members and thousands of medical providers. The selection reflects the results of intensive stakeholder engagement efforts to define opportunities to strengthen the structure of Ohios $20 billion managed care program. It addresses Governor Mike DeWines direction at the beginning of his term to re-evaluate Ohios managed care system with the goal of making the system more focused on individuals.
The seven MCOs selected for the next generation managed care program are:

Caresource Partners With Akron Childrens Hospital To Create Coordinated Care Model

CareSource, a nationally-recognized nonprofit health plan, announced today a value-based partnership with Akron Childrens Hospital to improve health and outcomes for thousands of children in Northeast Ohio who rely on Medicaid. The agreement between the health insurer and the hospital system focuses on improving outcomes for children and reducing the overall cost of health care.
CareSources history is built on breaking down the barriers of health care to increase access to seamless high-quality cost-effective care, said Steve Ringel, CareSource Ohio Market President. Our partnership with Akron Childrens Hospital will continue to support our youngest members and their families in northeast Ohio.
Starting Oct. 1, 2021, Akron Childrens and CareSource will launch a collaboration aimed at improving the health of approximately 100,000 Medicaid-covered children currently enrolled in CareSource who reside in 13 counties in Northeast Ohio.
Akron Childrens will assume accountability for care management for these children under a new company, the Akron Childrens Health Collaborative, a provider-led pediatric Accountable Care Organization . The Akron Childrens Health Collaborative was created to improve child health through family-centered care coordination, an engaged network of providers and a unified focus on quality, access and health equity.

What To Do If You’re A Cleveland Clinic Patient With Caresource
Starting September 1, an estimated 61,000 people with CareSource will lose access to the Cleveland Clinic.
CLEVELAND, Ohio – CareSource’s Medicaid contract with the Cleveland Clinic is expected to terminate August 31 after the two organizations were unable to agree on a payment structure.
Sixty-one thousand people with CareSource receive primary care through the Clinic, raising many questions among Northeast Ohioans about what this means for their healthcare needs after they lose access to the Clinic.
Since CareSource sent the Clinic a termination notice in June, the Clinic and CareSource have been working together to ensure continuity of care for patients.
Under a developing agreement between the two parties, patients in an active course of treatment, such as cancer treatment are in the second or third trimester of a pregnancy or are being treated for terminal illness, would still be covered by CareSource. The exact terms of the agreement, how it will be enacted and who will be covered still are being ironed out.
At this point, those affected have a few options: switch to another Medicaid plan and continue to use the Clinic keep CareSource and switch to another health system or contact CareSource to see if their care falls into the above blanket categories and will continue to be covered by the Clinic. The open enrollment period for Ohio Medicaid runs through November 30.

The response period for both RFI #1 and RFI #2 closed on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.
This feedback informed the program design reflected in Ohio Medicaids next generation program structure and procurement processes.

UnitedHealth Group pays network providers directly but if you are billed by a provider, you can contact UnitedHealth Group at 1 328-5979. If you are filing a claim for an out-of-network provider for an emergency or because you were referred to the provider by UnitedHealth Group you must submit the following information
- The Policyholder’s name and address.
- The patient’s name and age.
- The number stated on your ID card.
- The name and address of the provider of the service.
- The name and address of any ordering Physician.
- A diagnosis from the Physician.
- An itemized bill from your provider that includes the Current Procedural Terminology codes or a description of each charge.
- The date the Injury or Sickness began.
- A statement indicating either that you are, or you are not, enrolled for coverage under any other health insurance plan or program. If you are enrolled for other coverage you must include the name of the other carrier.

Episode Of Care Reports Available On The Mits Provider Portal
This is a reminder, Episodes of Care Performance Reports are posted on the MITS Portal under the Report tab for Hospitals, Physicians, Group Providers, Clinics and Federally Qualified Health Centers. These reports show your cost of care per Episode, how your costs compare to your peers and should be shared with your Organizations Leadership including your Medical Director/Quality Management. Your Portal Administrator has the role to view these reports. If you have questions about these reports or how to access them, call ODM Provider Services at 1-800-686-1516.
For Traditional Medicaid Members:
If you are new to Indiana Medicaid, use our provider search to determine whether your current provider participates in the Medicaid program. If your provider is listed, you should contact him or her ahead of time to see if he or she is accepting new patients. If you don’t have a provider, you can search by zip code to find a provider near you.
Some doctors no longer participate in the Medicaid program. If you cannot find your doctor, you can check the list of terminated Medicaid providers.
